Our Approach to Children

Children are not small adults. Their bodies are growing, adapting, and changing constantly. Our assessment is thorough but gentle, always age-appropriate, and always with a parent present. We will give you an honest answer about whether your child needs treatment, monitoring, or referral to another specialist.

Gentle and Age-Appropriate

Techniques are adapted to the child's age and comfort. Infant treatment uses light fingertip pressure. Adolescent treatment may include joint mobilisation and exercise.

Observation-Led Assessment

We watch how your child moves, sits, and plays before we examine them. This tells us more than any scan and helps the child feel comfortable.

Honest Communication

We will always tell you honestly whether we think treatment will help, whether monitoring is more appropriate, or whether your child needs a different specialist.

What We Help With

From newborn concerns to adolescent sports injuries, our team has experience across the full paediatric age range.

Infant Assessment (0-12 Months)

Unsettled babies, feeding difficulties, head shape concerns, torticollis, and asymmetric movement patterns. Gentle observation and light-touch techniques.

Children's Care (1-10 Years)

Growing pains, postural concerns, toe walking, clumsiness, flat feet, and hypermobility. Assessment identifies whether intervention or monitoring is appropriate.

Adolescent Sports Injuries

Growth-related conditions like Osgood-Schlatter disease, Sever's disease, and scoliosis screening. Sports injury treatment adapted for the developing body.

Scoliosis Screening

Early detection of spinal curvature during growth spurts. We screen, monitor, and refer to orthopaedic specialists when appropriate.

Postural Problems

Forward head posture, rounded shoulders, and spinal pain from heavy school bags and screen time. Postural education and targeted exercises.

Developmental Concerns

Delayed motor milestones, coordination difficulties, or movement patterns that concern you. Thorough assessment with honest guidance on next steps.

"Our baby was unsettled and had difficulty feeding on one side. Sarah was incredibly gentle and reassuring. After two sessions there was a noticeable improvement. She was honest about what she could and could not help with, which we really appreciated."

Frequently Asked Questions

Is chiropractic or physiotherapy safe for babies?

Yes. Techniques used on infants are extremely gentle, using light fingertip pressure similar to what you would use to test the ripeness of a tomato. Treatment is always performed with a parent present. Our practitioners have specific paediatric training and experience.

At what age can children be assessed?

We see babies from birth onwards. Common reasons for infant assessment include unsettledness, feeding difficulties, torticollis, and asymmetric movement. For older children and adolescents, we assess postural concerns, sports injuries, growing pains, and developmental questions.

How do I know if my child needs treatment?

If you are concerned about your child's movement, posture, pain, or development, an assessment is a good starting point. We will give you an honest answer about whether treatment would help, whether monitoring is sufficient, or whether referral to another specialist is more appropriate.

What should I expect during a paediatric assessment?

The assessment starts with listening to your concerns and observing how your child moves. For infants, we watch feeding, head position, and movement patterns. For older children, we assess posture, range of motion, and specific areas of concern. A parent is always present throughout.

Can you help with scoliosis in teenagers?

We screen for scoliosis and monitor mild curves during growth. For curves requiring intervention, we refer to orthopaedic specialists. We also provide exercise-based support alongside medical management to maintain strength, flexibility, and comfort during the monitoring period.
